Terms of Service
Last updated September 2026
These terms apply when you book a collection or bring items into our shop. Please read them — particularly the sections on pricing, items we cannot accept, and what happens if something goes wrong.
Sheer Care Services Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales, company number 14815239. Our registered office is 66 Mansfield Crescent, Brierfield, Nelson, England, BB9 5RU.
Booking and collection
When you submit the booking form you are asking us to collect your laundry. A booking is confirmed once we contact you to agree the window — the form on its own is a request, not a binding contract.
We collect in two-hour windows and will let you know when we are on our way. If nobody is home, we will contact you to rearrange. We may charge for a second visit if we are not able to collect on the agreed day through no fault of ours.
You can change or cancel a booking free of charge up until we arrive. Once items are collected, cleaning may already have begun and the work carried out becomes chargeable.
Pricing and payment
Prices shown on this website are indicative. Service washes are priced by weight and other work is priced per item, so the final figure is calculated once we have weighed and inspected your laundry.
We will send you the final price, along with a secure payment link, before we return your items. You are told the price before you pay, and paid for before we deliver. We accept card payments online, and cash or card in the shop.
Delivery charges depend on your postcode and are shown when you book. Some areas are free; others carry a flat round-trip fee.
Your items
Care labels
We follow manufacturers' care labels. If an item has no label, or the label has been removed, we will clean it using our best professional judgement — but we cannot accept responsibility for a result that a missing label would have prevented.
Check your pockets
Please empty pockets before collection. We cannot be responsible for money, keys, phones, jewellery or anything else left in clothing, or for damage such items cause to the rest of the load.
Items we may decline
We may refuse items that are heavily soiled with biological or hazardous material, items that pose a risk to our staff or equipment, or items so fragile that cleaning is likely to damage them. Where we decline something we will return it to you unwashed and unpriced.
Pre-existing wear
Cleaning can reveal weakness already present in a fabric — thin patches, failing stitching, colours that were never fully fast. We will point out anything obvious before we start where we can, but we are not liable for wear that cleaning brings to light rather than causes.
If something goes wrong
Tell us as soon as you can, and in any case within seven days of your items being returned, so we can look into it while we still have the details fresh.
Where we have lost or damaged an item through our own fault, we will offer a fair settlement based on the item's age and condition, in line with the textile care industry's usual approach. That will usually be less than what you originally paid, because clothes lose value with use.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Items left with us
If we cannot deliver your items and cannot reach you, we will hold them at the shop and keep trying. After three months, items that remain uncollected and unpaid for may be disposed of or donated. We will always attempt to contact you first using the details you gave us.
Turnaround
Most orders are ready within 24 to 48 hours. Delicate items, curtains, wedding dresses and anything requiring inspection take longer, and we will tell you when you book. Timescales are our best estimate rather than a guarantee.
Complaints and governing law
If you are unhappy with anything, contact us at info@sheercare.co.uk or 01282 476 029 and we will do our best to sort it out.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
